How to Manually Update your T-Mobile G1 from a MicroSD Card

The T-Mobile G1 phone does not require an over-the-air update to be upgraded to the new RC29 firmware. All you need is a MicroSD card.

WARNING: This update method is not supported by T-Mobile, or Google. If you brick your phone, it becomes a useless paperweight, and all your information gets lost, don’t say we didn’t warn you. On the upside, we haven’t heard of anyone having any problems, which means manual updates could become a routine option at a later date.

Here are the instructions to complete the manual update to the RC29 firmware:

1. Get the RC29 update from Google ( Download here )

2. Rename it the downloaded file from signed-kila-ota-115247-prereq.TC4-RC19+RC28.zip to update.zip, and place it in the root of your Micro SD card.

(Don’t forget to unplug your handset from Computer USB before proceeding for next step)

3. Turn off your G1, then turn it back on by holding the Home+End keys until you see an icon popup after the T-Mobile G1 logo.

4. From the icon screen, open the keyboard and hit Alt+L. This will display the log saying what is happening (although you can skip this step).

5. Now press Alt+S to begin the update. Remember, the update needs to be in the root of the Micro SD card and needs to be named update.zip.

6. Once it finishes, just follow the onscreen instructions and press Home+Back to finish.

7. The G1 will reboot a few times to flash different parts of the firmware.

Sony Ericsson Unveils 3 Snappy Music Phone

1. Sony Ericsson 8GB W902 Walkman phone

There might be a triple-hit of phones announced today from Sony Ericsson, but it's the first that has us excited. And by first, we mean the first Walkman handset to sport a 5-megapixel camera.

The 8GB W902 Walkman phone features "the same superior sound quality as the newly launched W980", which should allow users to listen to music "the way it should be heard: true to original".

An 8GB Memory Stick Micro (M2) stores more than 8,000 songs, assuming they're eAAC+ encoded files.

Sony said the 5-megapixel camera and great video-capturing and sharing capabilities made the W902 "a top-of-the-range device that will make you the envy of your friends".

The W902 Walkman is a UMTS/HSDPA 2100 and EDGE/GSM/GPRS 850/900/1800/1900 phone that will be available in selected markets in Volcanic Black, Wine Red and Earth Green in Q4 of 2008.

Ben Padley, head of the Music Category at Sony Ericsson, said the list of pioneering and innovative features found on Walkman phones continues to be unmatched in the industry.

"Features like the music-recognition application TrackID, SensMe - for matching your mood to the music - and Shake control to change tracks with the flick of your hand, make Walkman phones stand out from the rest," Padley said.

2. Sony Ericsson W595 Walkman

The W595 – Stores more than 1,900 songs (again assuming they're eAAC+ encoded files) and contains a 3.2-megapixel camera.

"The W595 Walkman is perfect for those who want to share sounds with their friends," an official Sony Ericsson statement said.

Play more than 1,900 songs through the built in stereo speakers, plug in the in-box sharing jack to listen silently to your tunes with a friend or Bluetooth your sounds to Sony Ericsson’s range of wireless speakers."

The W595 Walkman is a UMTS/HSDPA 2100 and EDGE/GSM/GPRS 850/900/1800/1900 phone that will be available in selected markets in Active Blue, Cosmopolitan White, Jungle Grey and Lava Black in Q4 of 2008.

3. Sony Ericsson W302 Walkman

Meanwhile, the W302 is a slim 10.5mm handset with Bluetooth stereo, FM Radio and 2-megapixel camera.

The affordable "no-compromise" handset is designed to target all audiences, thanks to its 2-megapixel camera, FM radio, TrackID and 512MB Memory Stick Micro.

The W302 Walkman is an EDGE/GSM/GPRS 850/900/1800/1900 phone that will be available in selected markets in Midnight Black and Sparkling White in Q4 of 2008.

“Since the launch of our first Walkman phone in 2005, Sony Ericsson has continued to pioneer a superior mobile music experience - and the 77 million Walkman phones sold to date are testament to this commitment,” says Ben Padley, Head of the Music Category at Sony Ericsson.

“With this latest range of phones we are pushing the boundaries of what people think is possible and are offering best-in-class sound quality and our most exciting Walkman phones to date.” 'Read More......'atau,'Selengkapnya......'
